Meet Your Dentist
Dr. Jana K. Oister
Dr. Oister grew up on a dairy farm in rural Oklahoma. She loves the warmth of small, close-knit communities and getting to know her patients, their kids, and their grandkids over the past 30 years.
Since graduating in 1994, as a top student and Oklahoma University Omicron Kappa Upsilon honoree, Dr. Oister has built a thriving, full-service dental practice in Cherokee, Oklahoma. She loves working with people, and also she likes the artistic side of dentistry. She always wanted a good career that would allow her to live in a rural area and raise her future family in a small town. Dentistry is more than a career for her—it’s a way of life. Dr. Oister specializes in orthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, dental implants, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry, providing comprehensive care for all ages.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Oister holds a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and is a Diplomate of the American Orthodontic Society. She is also a member of the Oklahoma Dental Association and American Dental Association. Dr. Oister has completed thousands of hours of advanced training through institutions like the Spear Institute and LVI. Dr. Oister was the first dentist in Northwest Oklahoma to use digital radiographs back in 1996.
Dr. Oister is supported by a wonderful team, who she says are the best bunch around. She feels fortunate to spend time with them and their families. They are all local people who love their families and their community, just like her.
Living in this small town, Dr. Oister sees the smiles she treats all around. She loves seeing the results of orthodontic care and what it does for a child’s confidence and beauty. She loves seeing her patients’ smiles on stage, at sporting events, and at graduations.
Dr. Oister’s commitment extends beyond dentistry. Named Cherokee’s Citizen of the Year in 2022, she actively engages in community events, especially with her horses and carriage.
Married to Glenn for 33 years, Dr. Oister enjoys family adventures, cooking, gardening, and long walks with their dog, Bella. She has two adult children: Benjamin is in graduate school at the Missouri University of Science and Technology studying a Master’s in Explosives Technologies, and Baylee is a sophomore at Northwestern Oklahoma State University pursuing a predental undergraduate degree.
