What to Expect at Your First Appointment
A THOROUGH EVALUATION
Your first appointment provides us with a complete picture of your oral health. Taking approximately two hours, this initial visit allows us to evaluate your dental needs and create a plan just for you. Here’s what to expect:
- We’ll start by talking with you about your medical and dental history. This is your chance to share any concerns or goals for your smile.
- Using digital X-rays, we’ll capture clear, high-quality images with reduced radiation. For patients without recent imaging from another dentist, our cone beam imaging technology gives us a detailed 3D view of your teeth and jaw.
- We’ll take a series of full mouth X-rays, including bitewings, to assess your current oral health and establish a baseline for future care. These images allow us to identify issues that aren’t visible during a standard evaluation.
- Periodontal probing is a technique we use to check your gum health and identify any signs of periodontal disease.
- We’ll also evaluate the condition of your gum tissue.
CLEANING OPTIONS AT YOUR FIRST VISIT
If a routine cleaning is all that’s needed, it may be completed at your first visit. However, if scaling or root planing is required for a deeper clean, we will schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure your gums receive the care they need. We’ll explain your options clearly and help you decide on the best next steps for your care.
